Knottingley's Adventure Playground
Open to All Since 1972
Staffed outdoor play sessions for children aged 5–16, run by the local community as a registered charity. No memberships, no subscriptions — just adventure.
What is The Addy?
The Addy is an open-access adventure playground on the Warwick Estate in Knottingley, run by the local community as a registered charity since 1972. Children come and go freely — we don't do memberships, subscriptions, or waiting lists. Just proper adventure play, staffed by qualified play workers who know every child by name.
Open Access
Children come and go freely during sessions. No memberships, no subscriptions — just turn up and play.
Qualified Staff
14 qualified play workers who know every child by name, creating a space where children feel safe to explore.
Community-Run
Every session fee goes back into keeping The Addy running. We're a charity, not a business — and we've been doing it for over 50 years.
What happens at a session?
Every session is different — children choose what they want to do, supported by play workers who encourage adventure, creativity, and outdoor play. One day might be den-building, the next arts and crafts, the next group games in the hall. The children lead. We support.
Ready to get started?
Registration is quick and free. Three simple steps and your child is ready for their first adventure.
The Addy needs your support
As a registered charity, The Addy relies on session fees, grants, and donations to keep the playground running for every child. Fifty years of community support got us here — help us reach the next fifty.
Donate
Every pound goes directly to running play sessions, maintaining equipment, and keeping the doors open.
